Player Identification Lead – England & Wales Cricket Board

Team: England Men’s
Location: National Cricket Performance Centre, Loughborough
Term: Full-time and permanent
The purpose of this role is to lead all strategic activity associated with the identification of players and to work closely with selectors and coaches to ensure the right quantity and quality of players are selected onto the Men’s Pathway and into the England team.

YOU’LL BE DOING
• Continually developing and reviewing the ECB’s Player Identification strategy ensuring that it remains at the forefront of best practice, in terms of rigour and innovation, across international sport
• Leading and managing a team of scouts and supporting them to deliver world-leading scouting processes that inform selection
• Directing the analysis of scouting and performance data that supports selection decision-making and ensuring that impactful information is made easily accessible to selectors and coaches
• Supporting and informing the selection of all England Men’s and Pathway teams and ensuring that precise focus is placed on meeting England’s short, medium and long-term needs
• Working with coaches and science and medicine staff to assess on-programme player development and readiness and ensuring the effective management of player profiles
• Engaging counties in the process of nominating, monitoring and reporting of players
• Utilising research findings to develop innovative talent identification and confirmation methods
• Supporting counties with the development of their player recruitment strategy, systems and processes, ensuring that they are broadening the size and quality of their talent pool
• Implementing and continually evolving digital systems that enables the efficient sharing of information across the County Talent Pathway, the professional game, the Men’s pathway and England teams
• Researching and developing best practice within the areas of talent identification and development and sharing insight with the wider game and through the coach development pathway
• Ensuring the timely management of budget and finances for all Player Identification activity
• Leading and managing the work programme of the Men’s Pathway Administrator

YOU’LL HAVE
• A proven track record of leading high-performance teams
• Demonstrable expertise in the areas of talent identification and development
• Extensive experience of best practice scouting and selection processes
• A strong understanding of data analytics
• The ability to effectively communicate and present information using a wide range of engaging methods
• The skills to manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders
• Excellent knowledge and understanding of coaching and sports science and medicine, preferably within the elite cricket domain
