Project Coordinator – Motivate East – WheelPower – British Wheelchair Sport

Job Description
To work with the Development Manager to deliver a health and physical activity project for disabled people living in seven East London boroughs surrounding Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, inspired by the Paralympic Games.

Note: WheelPower are the lead delivery partner on this collaborative project led by the London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) in partnership with London Sport, East London boroughs (Barking & Dagenham, Greenwich, Hackney, Newham, Redbridge, Tower Hamlets and Waltham Forest), Greenwich Leisure Limited (GLL) and the consortium of disabled people’s organisations working with us to bring this vision to reality.

• To work with the Development Manager to drive the delivery of the club development and equipment programmes across East London and Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, in partnership with the project partners
• To work with the programme partners to implement the delivery and development of the programme
• To work with all partners, local sport organisations, disabled people’s organisations and others to raise awareness of the programme on a local, regional and national level
• To work with all partners to increase the number people with a disability or long-term health condition participating in sport and physical activity across East London
• To support the Development Manager to ensure that the programme continues to meet key outcomes

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Events planning and coordination
o To support the Development Manager in planning and coordinating events as well as providing guidance and support to partners on the planning and implementation of local events.
o To coordinate the setup and close down of events and activities, leading by example when appropriate.
o To manage monthly logistics work-log, coordinating transportation of equipment across East London (and occasionally further afield)

Equipment loan scheme coordination
o To administrate the equipment loan scheme including; reviewing and processing equipment requests, maintaining records, audit & mapping of equipment, composition and review of health & safety/risk assessment documents and storage & maintenance of equipment

Monitoring and Evaluation duties
o To provide regular reports to the Development Manager to ensure that the programme is meeting key outcomes in line with strategic milestones set by the Contract & Project Management
o To maintain regular contact with partners to meet deadlines for reporting on regular activities and one-off events.
o To support the Development Manager in managing partner updates of online data monitoring tool for regular activities and one-off events.

Partnership working
o To work with partners, including local authorities, health bodies, local and national charities, sports clubs and other local organisations to maximise the impact of the project
o To work with all partners, national disability sport organisations, disabled people’s organisations and others to identify opportunities for the development and delivery of the programme across East London
o Working with volunteers to deliver user-led sessions and events
o To raise awareness of the programme among other local partners and disabled people across East London.

Other tasks
o To assist the Development Manager in identifying partners’/delivery bodies’ training requirements (to develop a successful equipment loan scheme and range of activities across the project)
o Processing and coding invoices for payment by finance team.
o Support special events e.g. Time to Shine Event and Inclusive Coaching Week.
o To carry out other duties to support the programme delivery/development as agreed with the Development Manager

SPECIAL FACTORS
The nature of the work may involve the post-holder occasionally carrying out work outside of normal working hours.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:
Essential skills and experience
o Knowledge/experience of working in sport development or administration
o Demonstrable ability to develop and sustain partnerships with external organisations, including voluntary organisations and service users
o Excellent inter-personal skills, including the ability to communicate with a range of stakeholders using appropriate methods of communication
o Ability to deliver outcomes to agreed deadlines
o Strong IT skills in MS Windows, Word, Outlook, Excel
o Experience of working with a wide range of internal and external partners.
o Experience of working as part of a team
o Attention to detail and accuracy

Desirable Skills & Experience
o Is likely to be educated to degree level or equivalent
o An understanding of Paralympic legacy developments
o Experience of running events
o Experience of monitoring and evaluation
o Supporting/mentoring volunteers
o Experience of disability and a good understanding of the issues associated with working with people with a range of impairments
o Awareness of the key barriers to sport and physical activity for people with a disability or long-term health condition
o Delivery of disability/inclusive sport sessions
