Job Description
The purpose of this role is to work nationally to identify visually impaired children and their families who will benefit from the First Steps project by providing accessible and fun tools and ongoing support to young people aged 3 – 11 years. The role of the First Steps Project Officer will be to ensure that young people are encouraged, supported and most importantly listened to as we take them on their ‘First Steps’ to a more active lifestyle.
To develop and manage the BBS First Steps project to help address the inequalities of sporting and physical activity provision for visually impaired children living across the UK.
Main roles and responsibilities:
Identify/recruit visually impaired children aged between 3 – 11 years to be the beneficiaries of First Steps.
Develop a relationship and rapport with the children and their families/ carers to provide support and motivation throughout the lifetime of the project.
Identify sporting partners and organisations local to each child to encourage the child and their support network (family members/carers) to take their preferred next steps in maintaining a physically active lifestyle and promote a ‘habit for life’.
