Job Description
Having successfully received funding from the National Lottery Community fund to deliver a 4-year ‘Our Community Can’ project, the Sports Partnership Herefordshire & Worcestershire is looking for a Project Officer with experience of working with local communities. The aim of the role will be to coordinate and develop creative and active opportunities across Worcestershire.
This exciting brand new role will also aim to deliver against our strategic objective of empowering individuals, groups and communities as well as delivering against the following funding objectives: Increased community connectivity and relationships, establishing sustainable creative & physical activities, increased wellbeing and reducing social isolation.
We are looking for someone to join our enthusiastic and high performing team who can bring with them a passion for making a difference in local communities. You should have the ability to consult with individuals and groups to understand and develop community based interventions. Engaging with local networks and stakeholders at different levels will be a key part of this role so experience of this is essential.
You will have previous experience of working in a community development environment or directly with community groups and be able to evidence the development and delivery of needs led projects. Whilst not essential, experience within a sport and/or physical activity setting would be beneficial. An understanding of the barriers that individuals and groups may face when developing projects will also be key, as will the ability to break these down in innovative ways.
An ability to work under pressure with conflicting priorities is essential, as is a willingness to work unsociable hours. You will be a self-starter with good team building and networking skills, which are critical to this role. If you are highly motivated, with excellent interpersonal skills and experience of project management, we want to hear from you.
