Safeguarding Co-ordinator – Albion in the Community

Job Description
Roles and responsibilities
1. To continuously work to maintain, embed and improve AITC’s safeguarding culture, ensuring the highest standards in safeguarding for the most vulnerable groups.
2. To maintain accurate, confidential and up to date records on all safeguarding incidents, concerns and allegatons.
3. To provide regular comprehensive safeguarding updates to AITC board of trustees.
4. To provide safeguarding advice and support to AITC staff delivering programmes and events.
5. To work alongside statutory agencies and education providers to ensure ‘Working together’ principles are embedded to safeguard participants.
6. To manage referrals to statutory agencies, footballing authorities and the charity commission when required, and represent AITC in meetings and events as needed.
7. To be the face of safeguarding within AITC and be a visible member of the wider charity team to help build a supportive safeguarding structure and network across the charity.
8. To ensure safeguarding standards relating to AITC and BHAFC are met and maintained.
9. To provide quality assurance of safeguarding provisions across AITC.
10. To work alongside the wider People and Culture Team to monitor and ensure that all AITC staff are up to date with safeguarding training requirements.
11. To ensure the charity’s strict compliance with the safeguarding policies and procedures of AITC, The Premier League Charitable Foundation, The FA and the Charities Commission, and to be compliant with the Local Authority safeguarding policies and procedures.

General Duties and Accountabilities:
To support Brighton & Hove Albion FC and AITC in their aims and objectives at all times.
To ensure compliance with all relevant club policies, including health and safety policies.
To ensure compliance with all relevant legal, regulatory, ethical and social requirements.
To keep confidential any information gained regarding the charity, club and its personnel.
To represent Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club and AITC in a professional manner.
To maintain a flexible approach to work at all times.
To undertake other duties and responsibilities as required from time to time.

Qualifications & Experience
Essential
A relevant degree level qualification or other extensive safeguarding experience and education
Valid and accepted enhanced FA DBS CRC (Criminal Background Check) or be willing to undertake this check if successful
Knowledge and understanding of child protection issues including holding a valid FA Safeguarding Children Workshop Certificate or be willing to undertake this training if successful
Experience as a professional Safeguarding practitioner working directly with children and adults at risk
Experience of case load management with regards to safeguarding concerns raised by the workforce relating to children and adults at risk
Extensive knowledge and understanding of child protection and adults at risk issues
Computer literate (Microsoft Office/Word/Excel/ Outlook/ PowerPoint)
Strong organisational and administrative skills
Good planning and prioritising skills
Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) to be able to communicate clearly to a wide-ranging audience from children, adults with disabilities, safeguarding professionals, senior managers and coaches etc
Extensive knowledge and understanding of the relevant levels of FA DBS (Criminal Background Check) to undertake on specific job roles within football
Experience of conducting enhanced, standard and basic DBS CRC’s (Criminal Background Check)
Experience in offering safeguarding advice and support to colleagues, vulnerable groups and their parents/carers within a comparable organisation
Ability to work under pressure and deadlines whilst being able to prioritise workloads in a timely fashion
A flexible approach to working times and locations
An established Safeguarding Professional network

Desirable
FA Welfare Officer Workshop Certificate
Mental Health First Aider Certified (Mental Health England)
IBSL Entry Level Award in British Sign Language or higher
Makaton Foundation Workshop or higher
Experience of using a case-management system (such as CPOMs or MyConcern)
An interest in football
