Sales Executive – George Smith – London

George Smith has become synonymous with beautiful handcrafted furniture. Every item, whether from our extensive collection or a bespoke piece is lovingly made at our factory in Newcastle. Our factory produces a broad range of upholstered furniture including sofas, chairs, stools, chaises, beds, screens and wall panels. We also offer a full bespoke furniture development and production service, tailored to the needs of our clients. Our client base includes interior designers, architects, procurement agents and retail customers. Our breadth of work includes the most prestigious residences, hotels, private clubs, restaurants, yachts and retail stores in the UK and abroad.

Based at our headquarters and showroom on the Kings Road in London, we are seeking an experienced outside sales executive to cover the London area and who will increase sales within an established customer base and develop new contacts and business.

Core functions:

promote/sell/secure orders from interior designers, new and existing, through a proactive, relationship-based approach
present George Smith’s products, capabilities and services to existing and prospective customers and assist them in selecting those which best suit their needs

Main responsibilities:

establish, develop and maintain business relationships with existing and prospective customers within London and other designated territories/market segments to generate new business for George Smith
coordinate sales efforts with the showroom sales team, marketing, production and accounts. Ensuring the company’s high standards of customer service are met whilst protecting gross margins
plan and organise your own personal sales strategy in consultation with the sales director and maximise the return on time invested in customer meetings within your sales territory
supply management with verbal and written updates/reports on sales activity, the sales pipeline, customer needs, feedback, problems and competitor activity as well as the potential for new products and services
identify and contact potential trade clients. These clients include, but are not limited to, interior designers, hotels and hotel groups, restaurants, clubs and bars
generate your own sales leads. Follow up of any leads passed on by other members of the George Smith team

The candidate:

We are looking for someone who is passionate about selling premium quality products and is target led without needing to be aggressive. Highly presentable with strong interpersonal and influencing skills, the successful candidate will have a good understanding of, and empathy for, the luxury and bespoke home interiors market. Prior experience of selling in the interiors or design industry with a network of contacts is desirable.

The role will require travel around London and on occasions, the home counties, and applicants must be in a position to be flexible about their travel and daily schedule.

Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with customers at all levels are a prerequisite. Good attention to detail is important, as well as the personal drive to ensure that trade customers consider George Smith as their first choice when specifying furniture for their clients.

There are no set hours of work, although the sales executive will be expected to meet certain targets around number of meetings per week and overall sales. These targets will be agreed annually.

Hours: whilst we will agree your basic hours, you will be responsible for managing your own diary

Location: London. Potential to develop into other areas of the UK.

Salary: dependent on experience. It will be a base salary plus commission package.
