designjunction is currently looking for a sales manager to join our rapidly expanding team in London.
The company designjunction is the leading destination for design in central London, held each year during the London Design Festival. designjunction has cemented its reputation for presenting cutting-edge contemporary design against the backdrop of challenging industrial spaces, breaking the mould of the traditional trade show. designjunction is a carefully curated show, presenting the best in lighting, furniture and accessories from some of the world’s leading design brands.
Now in its fifth year, designjunction has a global presence in three major design cities including London, Milan and New York. designjunction is a show for the industry, by the industry.
The designjunction brand is in a period of growth with plans to expand in new territories in 2016/2017 under new ownership of Informa Exhibitions.
The role:
Your principle role will be to manage exhibition sales: acquiring new and managing existing accounts, as well as reporting on sales and managing freelance sales staff. You will be required to contribute to the annual sales strategy and to hit annual revenue targets.
Reporting to Deputy Director.
Key responsibilities:
drive exhibition revenue for the company
hit weekly sales targets
generate and qualify leads by telephone, email, research
attend face to face sales meetings
attend regular site visits with interested clients
account manage existing client relationships – rebooking stands
have input and ideas into the content and creative of the show
work with curatorial committee to vet potential exhibitors
work with the deputy and managing directors to create sales strategy
understand and maintain sales database system including logging all calls made
process sales for senior team members
produce and process all sales contracts
keep floor plans up to date with creative teams
secure re-books on site at shows
The individual should have the following characteristics:
passion for and understanding of either contemporary design, creative industries, technology, culture or entrepreneurship
true self-starter – able to take initiative
charisma, ability to catch attention and spark peoples’ imaginations
ability to maintain long term relationships
confidence in person and on the telephone
team player, understanding of lines of reporting
organised and accurate, including being a fastidious note-maker and logger of calls and brilliant at time management
ability to close deals
have the ability to work in a very fast-paced environment
have a good knowledge and interest in contemporary design
fluency in a second European language an advantage
The individual should have the following experience:
a proven track record in a sales role (five years)
exhibition sales experience an advantage
experience in one or more of design/tech/ creative industries/ entrepreneurial environment
working internationally; both with international brands and on projects in different countries
experience working with a range of client sizes, from global brands to start-ups
organisational and customer service skills
experience using sales software/CRM
computer knowledge (Word, Access, Excel, Outlook)
Salary is negotiable depending on experience.
