Job Purpose
To assist the Senior Football Development Officer and Football Development Officer to plan, deliver and evaluate physical activities within Education and Community settings to all members of the Community within east London & Essex.
To ensure activities are safe and suitable for all participants involved.
To supervise and support participants ensuring protocols are followed at all times.
To contribute to the WHU Foundation mission of encouraging sports participation, promoting health and wellbeing and improvement life opportunities.
Main Responsibilities
Community Engagement:
• Prepare and implement well – structured and progressive coaching programme ensuring high quality, enjoyable coaching experience centred around the needs of the partners
• Clearly brief a team of sessional coaches prior to sessions and to provide appropriate feedback on performance afterwards
• Enable people to become involved in local activities and develop skills which will contribute to increased sports participation in the area
• Provide support and advice to community groups / teams and individuals to facilitate their development
• To identify the needs of schools, participants and groups to put together a work plan including objectives, outputs and outcomes relevant to appropriate timescales.
• Liaise with local sports and activities clubs and leisure providers to provide a range of exit strategies for individuals from the programme
• Liaise with semi-professional football clubs to develop relationships for possible LA partnership growth and playing exit routes for learners.
Programme Development and Delivery:
• Deliver WHU Football & Community Sports Coaching Sessions
• Deliver WHU Holiday Course Provision
• To deliver in accordance to all WHU Schemes of Work
• To produce up to date session plans for all delivery
• To complete all Risk Assessment procedures and protocols
• Adhere to all safeguarding requirements required by the school and WHU Foundation.
• To carry out quality assurance
• To upload registers on VIEWS system
• To develop and sustain new commercial delivery within east London and Essex
Partnership working:
• To work in partnership with other agencies identified by the Senior Football Development Officer & Football Development Manager to identify individuals, groups, and organisations to support and develop the programme.
• To work through a partnership approach to identify the barriers preventing easy access to services for local people within their locality;
• Work in partnership with other workers and agencies as necessary;
Events and Training:
• Deliver cluster tournaments, fun days and road shows across Essex
• Identify people and organisations from the community who may benefit from the programme
• Represent WHU Foundation at all local community events across our target areas
• Embrace all CPD Opportunities through both the school and WHU Foundation
• Other responsibilities at the discretion of the school Head Teacher and WHU Foundation Senior FDO
Monitoring and Evaluation:
• To carry out administrative duties as necessary e.g. maintain accurate attendance, registers, and quality assurance using the Premier League VIEWS systems
• To contribute towards the evaluation of the various initiatives and ensure monitoring systems are consistently maintained as directed by Senior Football Development Officer.
Other:
• To provide an accessible and flexible approach at all times, including the working of unsocial hours, evening and weekend working as necessary and other duties as reasonably requested
• Adhere to policies and procedures outlined by the Senior Football Development Officer.
• Maintain and deliver to the high corporate standards of both West Ham United Foundation and the school.
Freedom to act:
• Independently organise work plan, information storage, retrieval and collation systems, diary and working time (including out of hours)
• Regular lone working in the community
Communication:
• Use of highly developed culturally competent communication skills with community members and organisations to negotiate, influence, and resolve conflict that may arise
• Facilitate the involvement of community members in the reporting of needs, outputs and outcomes
