Location: Truro School, Trennick Ln, Truro, TR1 1TH
Basis: Full-Time

Role Description:
The successful candidate will be part of a professional Saints Southwest team which works with over
10,000 children per week across the South West. The right person will also have the chance to progress
and expand their role within the Saints Southwest setup and have the opportunity to receive mentoring
and guidance from our team.
The role is to lead and manage the Saints Southwest Football Development Programme(s) based at Truro
School in accordance with the programme objectives, coaching philosophy and curriculum.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Coaching/Player Development
● Lead Coach of the Year 10 to Post 16 Football Development programme at Truro School
● Coaching and educating Footballers from 5-19 years of age
● Develop ‘Potential into Excellence’ both on and off the pitch
● Promote and develop the Saints Southwest values/player characteristics
● Work with colleagues to manage and develop players across the Football Development programme
● Planning and record delivery of Football coaching training sessions and match days
● Implementation of the Saints Southwest and Truro School coaching curriculum
● To provide technical coaching to boys and girls across the Football Development programme
● Contribute to the delivery of wider holistic player development provisions such as; performance
analysis, athletic development, pre and post hab, health, wellbeing and nutrition sessions
● Contribute to the delivery of ‘Parents in Sport’ programme that integrates, educates and supports
all parents on player and student development through Football
● Produce and work with players on their Individual Player Development Plan
● Compile performance reviews, attend multi-disciplinary meetings and report at parents’ evenings
● To ensure provision of the Football Development programmes can support Saints Southwest’s
higher ability performers in Football through more bespoke and individualised dual development
pathways in education and sport
● Talent identification and programme selection
● Identify and assess potential scholarship opportunities
● To contribute to all aspects of school life
● Ensure detailed player information is recorded accurately

Coach Development
● Engage in Saints Southwest CPD to support own development and development of others
● Contribute to the organisation and delivery of CPD events
● Effectively manage and develop coaches to achieve the level of coaching required
● Develop healthy relationships with other coaches to allow for constructive debates and
discussions around coaching and player development
● Monitor coaching and promote good practice across the Football Development programme
● To ensure there is a ‘coach and teacher development plan’ in place for every coach and teacher
who supports the Saints Southwest Football Development programme
● Ensure coaching files and HR are maintained and up-to-date

Programme Development, Communication and PR
● Continually promote the fundamental constitution of Saints Southwest
● Support the external communications and promotion of the Saints Southwest Football
programme in collaboration with marketing and consistent with Saints Southwest’s approach
● In collaboration with the Director of Sport & Director of Football, contribute to the delivery of all
school Open Days and marketing events to showcase Saints Southwest programme
● To build relationships with like minded partners to further elevate Saints Southwest programme
and take the message far and wide in the right circles and audiences
● Work with colleagues to set targets and outcomes in line with the Football Development plan
● Liaise with external academies and partners to benefit the Saints Southwest players and
programme
● Organise and support events which will aid the Football Development programme
● To develop effective depth and intelligence to ensure Saints Southwest Football Development
programme remains competitive
● To maintain and develop new links with the surrounding community and external sporting bodies
in girls and boy’s Football
● Develop a wide range of opportunities for sport related holiday programmes, residentials and
tournaments to showcase Saints Southwest’s provisions

Qualifications & Knowledge:
● UEFA B Licence (essential)
● FA Youth Award (essential)
● Be a member of the FA Licensed Coaches Club (essential)
● Hold an up-to-date Enhanced DBS, FA Safeguarding Children and Basic First Aid for Sport (BFAS)
qualifications (essential)
● Hold a Full and Clean UK Driving Licence (essential)
● DBS Clearance (essential)
● UEFA A Licence (desirable)
● Experience of the EPPP (desirable)

Experience:
Essential
● Experience of working within a professional Football Club environment
● Experience of coaching within the Youth Development Phase (12-16) and Professional
Development Phase (17-21)
● Experience of leadership and development in Football
● Experience planning and coordinating Football events (e.g. Tournaments)
● Evidence in supporting player and team
● Proven ability to communicate effectively with adults and children of all ages
● An excellent (current) knowledge of the Football community, grassroots football, and player
pathways

Desirable
● Experience of coaching within the Foundation Phase (5-11)
● Evidence in supporting coach development
● Experience of working with National Governing Bodies of sport and/or similar or related
organisations
● An understanding of delivering sport within an education context
