Job Description
Doncaster RLFC are looking to offer student physiotherapy work placement opportunities for the right candidates who are looking to gain further experience of working in a sporting environment whilst studying at undergraduate level.
The position would ideally suit someone who has completed the ITEC Level 3 Sports Massage Qualification and is looking to gain experience in delivery of this skill whilst also developing all other skill areas associated with working in a professional rugby league environment.
All placements are on a voluntary basis and hours will be agreed between the student and medical team which be worked around study and other commitments. Training evenings are usually a Tuesday and Thursday evening, with matches usually being played on a Sunday afternoon.
Students on extended placements will be able to gain extensive opportunities under the guidance of the medical team in the following areas:
– Sports massage provision
– Taping and strapping
– Assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of sporting injuries
– Day to day running of a professional sports club
– Match day experience
– Opportunities to use club resources for purpose of dissertation or research projects where appropriate
To be eligible for a placement the following criteria must be met:
– Currently studying on Physiotherapy or Sports Rehabilitation degree programme
– Access to own transport to get to and from training venues.
– Student insurance relevant to degree programme and professional body (Either from CSP or BASRaT)
– Desire to work within a professional sports environment in the future
– Excellent communication and inter-professional skills
