Sports Coordinator – LSE Students’ Union

Job Description
Can you work in a team and use your own initiative to develop a range of sporting and athletic clubs and related activities for students?
LSESU is looking for a Sports Coordinator to work within their Sports and Recreation team to support student volunteers in setting up and developing sports clubs and activities.
Sport and physical activity is an integral part of the student experience at LSE. The Students Union has 45 student sports clubs that cater for a range of standards, from beginner through to high performance athletes. Our teams compete in a range of leagues and fixtures, including BUCS and LUSL
You will act as the first point of contact for sports club leaders and will drive improvements of club activities and events including administering fixtures, facilities, finance, training, and a wide range of administrative processes. You will also work closely with the Physical Activity programme in ensuring a streamlined delivery of sport across both sports clubs and recreational activities and with them ensure our provision for elite athletes is championed within the LSE community.
The successful candidate will be committed to using their skills and knowledge to assist sports club leaders and will have personal experience of higher education. The role will require excellent administration and organisational skills, a methodical approach to managing information and sophisticated interpersonal skills. Ideally you will have experience of sports fixture administration, of providing exceptional customer care and of working with and training volunteers.

How we recruit
We want to ensure all systems, policies and processes are free from bias or discrimination and are fair and accessible, therefore we ask that all candidates complete our Application Process in two stages:
Part 1 (Application Form) is all about you telling us about your suitability for the role and will be used to determine if you are shortlisted for interview.
Part 2 (Equal Opportunities Monitoring and Contact Form) is personal information – so we can contact you if you are shortlisted for the interview. It also helps us gather and analyse demographic information about our applicants. This part will only be seen by HR and will not have any impact on shortlisting.
Application forms are formatted to ensure the equality monitoring data is removed before applications are seen by the shortlisting panel. This process allows us to ensure that the shortlisting is done in a fair and consistent manner and all applicants are given the same opportunity to demonstrate their abilities.
