Job Title/Grade: Sports Development Officer – Grade 5
Reporting to: Sports Development Manager

Job Purpose
To assist with the sports development functions of the Academy and support the
implementation of the University’s wider sports strategy. To engage in extra-curricular
activity, through sports and societies, adding value to the student experience.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES IN ORDER OF IMPORTANCE
1. To assist with the development of a sporting and activity offer at the University.
2. To increase participation in sport and physical activity among target groups.
3. To assist with the management and development of the Sports Ambassador Scheme.
4. To assist in the management of the student sports clubs and societies and the volunteer
student officers.
5. To establish working relationships with key local sports agencies, NGBs, and external
clubs in conjunction with the Academy of Sport to further the student sporting
experience.
6. Assist in the development and support a comprehensive sports development plan for
the department.
7. To assist with community development through sport and physical activity initiatives.
8. To have a responsibility towards the marketing of the department, its services and
activities, utilising and maintaining websites, social media networks and press releases/newsletters.
9. To assist with reports including qualitative and quantitative analysis, participation
figures, participant demographics, financial analysis, key issues, recommendations on
present and future developments.
10. To carry out any other duties, commensurate with grade, that may be reasonably
requested by the Sports Development Manager/Student Sport & Activities Manager.
