Job Description
The great outdoors…We want to help everyone make the most of our incredible open-air spaces and see sport as one of the best ways to enjoy the great outdoors. At Attingham Park we know that by broadening the range of activities we offer, we’ll be one step closer to helping as many people as possible get outside and enjoy themselves.
What it’s like to work here
Attingham is huge! With an extensive site including pleasure grounds, walled garden and deer park, mansion and visitor hub in the stable courtyard we have lots of places to stage events and activities, from sports activities, to trails, to outdoor theatre and not forgetting our substantial Christmas offer.
We are looking for exciting sport opportunities within the spirit of Attingham to draw in repeat visitors and raise revenue for vital conservation work as well as promoting positive exercise and lifestyle choices. We have so many stories to tell, so we want our activities to deepen people’s engagement with our place but we also want visitors to have fun!
What you’ll be doing
You’ll be responsible for the day to day management of the sport development programme at Attingham Park, assisting in the delivering and co-ordination of the sport programme ensuring it is innovative and site appropriate. Delivering an exceptional service for our visitors you’ll enable outstanding and inspirational experiences for everyone involved. You will be part of the Visitor ExperienceTeam at Attingham Park and also the national team of Sports Development Officers.
You may be required to supervise a small team of voluntary sport deliverers. Effectively working alongside local sports networks including County Sports Partnership, National Governing Bodies, Local Authorities, sports providers and volunteers you’ll provide a high quality service in line with the aims and aspirations of Attingham Park and the National Trust.
You’ll also be responsible for identifying new opportunities for income generation and external funding whilst considering long term sustainability.
Who we’re looking for
You know all about sports and outdoor activities, and what it takes to make a fantastic visitor experience. In fact, you know how to go above and beyond visitor expectations. You have experience in sports development including planning and delivering inspirational sports activities and a clear understanding of the sports sector.
You’re also skilled in managing stakeholders, using your excellent communication skills and your ability to build and maintain a network of internal and external contacts. You’re a true team player who can build trust and have a commitment to providing excellent customer service standards.
Perhaps most importantly, you are enthusiastic, full of energy and have a resilient, can-do approach that drives your success. You are as excited as we are about this rare opportunity to help people get outdoors and active in our beautiful outdoor spaces and can’t wait to get started.
We believe that people deserve more than just ‘good service’ but an amazing experience they’ll never forget. It’s about believing in what you do, sharing not telling, inspiring others to feel as passionate as you and creating lasting memories.
