About the role
GB Taekwondo and its event partners are seeking an experienced individual or agency to develop a detailed Ticket Sales Strategy for four events over three years.

The strategy will need to include the marketing plan, brand strategy and campaign identities for each event, demonstrate a clear and direct approach to achieving ticket sales targets and growing audience’s year on year, maximising the potential created by this multi-year, multi-event opportunity and complement the emerging commercial strategy across all events and wider assets.

About us
GB Taekwondo is the UK Sport supported body responsible for the High Performance program to deliver UK medals on the Olympic and World competition stage. Based at the National Taekwondo Centre in Manchester, GB Taekwondo has a number of high profile medal winning athletes including three Rio Olympic Medallists, reigning Senior & Junior World Champions underpinned by major support and development programs and a known brand.

Following an extensive and successful bidding process, GB Taekwondo, together with our event stakeholder partners, UK Sport, London Mayor, Manchester City Council and British Taekwondo have secured the rights to host an extensive program of major international events over the next Olympic cycle:

• WTF World Para Taekwondo Championships – Copperbox Arena, London – October
2017
• WTF World Taekwondo Grand Prix – Copperbox Arena, London – October 2017
• WTF World Taekwondo Grand Prix – Regional Arena, Manchester – October 2018
• WTF World Taekwondo Championships – Manchester Arena – May 2019

Our objectives relating to this project
• To generate ticket sales that reach and exceed defined targets for each event
• To reach out to new audiences with engaging ticket marketing campaigns that create
sustained growth in the number of taekwondo fans
• To help create a strong commercial platform for the sport
• To generate visitor numbers and economic impact for the host cities.
• To engage with local communities and encourage participation in taekwondo at all
levels
The project would include the following programme of work:

Working with, and reporting to GB Taekwondo and the Events Stakeholder boards, the successful applicant will develop a comprehensive Ticketing Sales Strategy for the four events, incorporating pricing with detailed delivery plans, within the marketing budget available.
This broadly consists of potential sales of up to 50’000 available tickets with a marketing activation budget of approximately £ 50K across the 4 events (excluding salary / service delivery fees)

The programme of work should include the:

• Review of previous Taekwondo event ticketing plans and effectiveness.

• Development of a comprehensive Ticket sales strategy covering all events, with
effective campaigns across multiple platforms and a detailed delivery plan.

• Development of a clear strategy to leverage funding partner marketing assets and
VIK

• Development of a brand strategy for each event and overall series, including venue
look and feel (this could be in house or as a separate commissioning)

• Development of a targeted and appropriate PR campaign strategy that focuses on
and supports the ticket sales strategy that also engages with the World Taekwondo
Federation PR & marketing departments ensuring key campaign messaging is
consistent and reaches out to potential overseas ticket purchasers.

• Consideration of other functional areas as deemed appropriate to ensure sales
opportunities are maximised.
GB Taekwondo and Event Stakeholders will provide

• Support and timely supply of requested information
• A commitment to review documentation in line with agreed timelines
• Liaison with relevant external service providers

Skills
Event partners are keen to engage with individuals or agencies that can demonstrate:
• Experience of developing successful event ticket sales strategies
• Diverse experience throughout the sports and/or entertainment industry
• A track record for creative insight and developing new ideas
• Experience of working with comparable National Governing Bodies
• Value for Money
• Successful implementation of strategies to achieve targets

Research & Insight summary finalised and presented: March 17th 2017
Delivery plan presented: April 7th 2017

Stakeholders may prioritise submissions from individuals / agencies that can also commit to continuing beyond this project work and take the strategic delivery lead across the four event series.
This would include delivery of the PR and event media services (either as direct delivery or management of additional resource)

We also ask those applicants to detail their proposed time commitment, fees and the model for the implementation of the Delivery Plan should they wish to be considered for a longer term support and delivery role across this function.

Candidates who are shortlisted for interview will be required to make a short 10-minute presentation expanding on how you would go about developing the ticket sales strategy across the 4 events with some insight to your methodology.
(Candidates should not just present / repeat the initial written submission).
