This new and exciting role seeks an energetic and experienced individual who can deliver across a wide range of key priorities and objectives. The role combines cricket coaching and development. The role will be responsible for engaging young people from areas of deprivation into becoming active members of a Community Wicketz Cricket Club. The individual needs to be:
• Motivated, positive and passionate
• Proactive and ability to use own initiative
• Strong communication skills both oral and written
The role has been funded by The Lord’s Taverners.
Main Job Role:
o To create sustainable community led cricket club environments and build participation and competitive opportunities, whilst tackling social issues identified within the sport and promoting healthy lifestyle choices
o To positively engage with the local community to develop partnerships with businesses, local authority, schools, parents and other sports groups to ensure community cohesion
Job Purpose:
o To plan and deliver a strategy to implement the Wicketz programme aligned to the needs of the local community
o To successfully engage young people aged 8-16 years old into a Wicketz community club focussed on participation and sustainability
o Deliver quality, innovative programmes, health activities and opportunities to engage all members of the community into the game of Cricket through a Wicketz club
o Maintain a database of participation for all who have engaged with our programmes, and to maintain regular communication and dialogue, whilst also capturing feedback, opinion and a review of satisfaction
o To comply with the monitoring and evaluation requirements of the Lord’s Taverners for the Wicketz programme
o To collect case studies to highlight the positive impact of the programme in Luton
o Ensure the branding and identity of the programme within delivery
o Delivery of a year round cricket programme that is diverse and inclusive, and attracts girls and boys as well as the wider community
o Developing cricket opportunities for all players of all standards (coaching, tournaments, teams or casual play)
o Liaise with the Bedfordshire Cricket Development Managers
o Develop extended partnerships with external partners and stakeholders resulting in an enhancement of the cricket development plan (including Chance to Shine, ECB and local initiatives)
o Organise and deliver a launch event and festivals to engage the community
o Increase awareness of the Wicketz programme locally
o Link Wicketz clubs into the national programme through Lord’s Taverners
PERSON SPECIFICATION
EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS AND ACHIEVEMENTS
Desirable criteria
• A graduate or outstanding individual with appropriate experience or training
• ECB accredited coach
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
Essential criteria
• An understanding of the principles of sports development
• A good knowledge of the structure of cricket (UK and Internationally)
• An understanding of the Wicketz Programme and it’s aims and objectives
• Significant cricket coaching experience within a club environment
• Understanding of the local landscape and community
• Computer literate
