Family Activity Co – ordinator – GLL

Job Description
GLL is looking for a Family Activity Co-Ordinator (20 hours per week) based at Olympia Leisure Centre in Belfast, Northern Ireland to help us get more families spending time having fun and getting active together. As a new initiative, this programme is designed for the whole family to take part in various activities ranging from circuit classes and pool-based sessions to arts and crafts. We’re looking to recruit a first class Co-Ordinator to ensure success of the programme and be able to provide more families with the opportunity to attend. This is just one of the ways we’re helping to improve access to leisure in the city as we embark on the largest public leisure investment anywhere in the UK. Working closely in partnership with Belfast City Council, you’ll be part of a £105 million investment package that will rival any European city’s leisure offer, making this a truly exciting time to join as we change the face of leisure in the city.
As a Sports Officer – Family Activities, you’ll work as part of a team to create a structured, safe and fun environment using the facilities and equipment around you, all with the full support of the leisure centre management team who are committed to getting more families in Belfast more active, more often. With a passion for sport as well as great people skills, you’ll confidently lead families and individual age groups through a range of activities that keeps improving their fitness and returning to the sessions each week.
You’ll probably be from a sports, childcare or arts background and have experience of working with children and family groups. Ideally you’ll have group exercise qualifications (adult and junior) and experience of working within a leisure environment. Excellent communication skills will be key as you’ll build relationships with diverse groups and are able to relate to each type of person.
Please note that due to the nature of this programme, it will involve working evenings and weekends.
In return, we offer a range of benefits that you’d expect from the UK’s largest leisure provider:
– Pension schemes
– Ride to work scheme
– Discounted membership at our leisure centres
– The opportunity to join the GLL Society and have a say in how we’re run plus associated social events
– Career pathways
– Ongoing training and development to help you to be the best
If you have the passion and skills for this role, apply now.
All pay rates are subject to skills, experience, qualifications and location.
To be shortlisted for the role, internal applicants will need to demonstrate their commitment to GLL by becoming a Society member where eligible.
