The Food Manufacture Group is searching for a senior reporter to be the news dynamo that powers the growth of FoodManufacture.co.uk. If you’ve got news in your blood and a passion to break exclusive rich media content about Britain’s biggest manufacturing sector – food and drink manufacturing – we want to hear from you. Already an accomplished reporter, you’ll relish the challenge of interviewing a secretary of state on camera one day and a factory manager the next. Your mission: to deliver compelling rich media content to our website’s highly-discerning 100,000 plus independently audited unique monthly visitors.
This job will suit an experienced reporter who hungers to step up to a senior reporter role, serving the demanding information needs of a website with more than 100,000 independently-audited unique monthly visitors.
Already a fast, accurate and an inspiring news reporter, with a track record of exclusives and a big contact file, he or she will be expected to develop rapidly in-depth knowledge of the UK food and drink manufacturing sector, its key players and challenges.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a track record of success in online news writing or inspire confidence in the ability to achieve those skills quickly. She or he will be equally at home writing about the latest food business take-over bid – using social media tools and presenting videos and podcasts featuring leading industry figures – or reporting the latest manufacturing innovation or developments in nutrition policy covering fat, salt and sugar.
Top level organisational skills are a must for this demanding position as is the ability to prioritise tasks and fast and accurate proof reading. Tenacious and dedicated, a strong personality and the ability to represent the titles to key industry-opinion formers, contacts and advertising customers are also important. This role will suit an ambitious journalist who wants to consolidate key news skills in preparation for a later career move to the role of news editor.
Reporting to the group editor, the role will involve some travel in the UK and, less frequently to Europe.
Benefits include:
25 days holiday
