Energy Live News is the UK’s leading daily website dedicated to energy news. We cover all sectors of energy from nuclear and oil and gas to renewables and energy policy. We have won awards for our journalism and stage ground-breaking events, including conferences and awards. We publish daily news stories on the web and broadcast quality TV films and features.
ELN is looking for an all round experienced journalist who can hit the ground running.
You need to be able to make a mean cup of Early grey while making the office laugh, at the same time as writing great copy to tight deadlines and then look great on camera, while asking leading industry figures questions that make them squirm.
Yes this is a special role.
You need to have a minimum of three years daily news experience on local/ regional papers or radio/tv. Excellent in grammar and story telling. Able to use photoshop and some experience of editing software would be helpful. You know your law and how to manage your time.
You’re great in a small team, egos need not apply.
The job is a mix of everything from bashing out nibs to rushing to parliament or flying to a film shoot in a foreign clime. Adaptable and frankly bullet proof to handle anything that comes at you.
TV experience is a bonus but you will be taught how to make a BBC quality news report. You will script, voice and present films if good enough. You will not be the star, the storytelling takes pride of place at ELN.
Knowledge/ interest in energy is of benefit but not essential. If you can’t take a joke and work with a fun dynamic team don’t bother applying.
If you think you can fit in and want the challenge you will enjoy the rarest of things. A job in journalism that you’ll enjoy without any office politics!
Application
Send a CV, covering letter and examples/links to your work. Successful candidates will be invited for an interview and a short journalism test. References will be required. The job is waiting to be filled straight away.
