About Newsflare
News has changed.
More than ever before broadcasters and websites are relying on everyday people to capture video footage of breaking events, weather, nature and sports – footage that would be impossible for them to obtain via traditional routes.
Newsflare licenses video content from the public to broadcasters, publishers, news agencies and production companies. We have mobile and web platforms that allow our contributors to upload video, making it available for sale. Contributors range from professional video journalists to members of the public with a smartphone and they all receive at least 50% of the license fee if their video is sold.
Purpose of the Role
As a Chinese UGC journalist you will be a vital part of our news operation based in London. Primarily, you will be helping us to search for amazing videos from China (and elsewhere) while maintaining good relationships with the Chinese members and agencies that we work with on a daily basis. You will also be writing compelling news copy in English, meaning language skills are a must. You will occasionally be using professional video editing software (Adobe) so editing experience would be beneficial too, as would an understanding of the video licensing market and online media industry. A journalism or new media background would be useful but we are willing to accept applications from a range of educational backgrounds.
We are looking for committed and enthusiastic individuals with a “can-do” attitude. We want somebody on our team who can speak both Chinese (Mandarin) and English who loves video as much as we do. The ideal candidate would be familiar with a wide range of Chinese and Western video and social platforms such as Weibo, iQIYI, Tencent, Twitter, Facebook, Reddit etc.), as having a keen eye for good video and knowing where the best videos can be seen first is integral to the role.
