Great role for an experienced Editor to oversee an industry leading monthly publication. This is a wide-ranging role covering online and print formats. It will require excellent editorial and production editorial skills including writing, subbing and flatplanning and laying out for magazines as well as experience of social media.
Key duties:
Plan and produce the editorial content of the monthly magazine
Research and produce feature articles, news and product-based news and all other internally-produced editorial content
Commissioning content where appropriate
Produce and upload daily news output for the website & handle social media activity, engagement and content dissemination for the brand
Edit and sub-edit editorial content, produce layout guidelines, correct proofs and pass the magazine for press
Prepare editorial flat plan for each issue and maintain editorial schedule in liaison with the production department and repro house
Solicit colour repro submissions and meet monthly revenue targets
Ensure that editorial contributions and costs are kept within the agreed editorial budget
Represent the magazine at press events, conferences and exhibitions
Develop and maintain contacts with industry stakeholders to ensure a high profile for the magazine
Experience / skills required:
Experience of writing and editing within professional/technical B2B publishing / membership organisation / professional services
Ideally NCTJ qualified (or equivalent) with strong journalistic ability
Great track record of news gathering skills in a business environment
Experience of working on a range of content including online and print products
Excellent written and spoken English and a good eye for detail
Strong IT skills including experience with social media tools
Ability to make contacts in the industry and good commercial awareness
