Practical Publishing, the UK’s leading craft magazine specialist, is looking for a resourceful and organised individual to take on the role of Editor on Love Sewing, the company’s highly successful home sewing and dressmaking magazine, which launched in 2014.
The Editor will work with the Publisher to produce a four-weekly magazine to market-leading standards, working within and helping to develop our existing brief. The successful applicant will have the ultimate responsibility for producing a magazine to the very highest standard, on schedule and on budget.
The role requires excellent organisational and communication skills; the editor must plan and commission each issue, build a first class team of contributors, edit copy, and sign off all copy proofs. Additional duties include organising and running photoshoots, booking models and liaising with dressmaking contacts.
At least two years’ experience as Editor or Deputy Editor on a craft or interiors magazine is preferred, but a keen interest in sewing is vital – the Great British Sewing Bee should be considered required viewing! The successful candidate will have a passion for interiors and fabric, a well-honed eye for market trends and excellent written English skills. Strong communication skills are also required for representing the magazine and company to industry and consumer contacts.
This position is based at our office in Stockport. Salary will be dependent on experience.
