Intern – News and Features – CE Media – Chelmsford, England

CE Media is seeking an enthusiastic and talented intern to write news and features for its two leading titles, Elite Business and Elite Franchise.

Elite Business is a national print and online title dedicated to high growth start-up business, small- to medium- sized enterprises (SMEs) and entrepreneurs. Each month, we profile the entrepreneurs who are revolutionising and driving forward the UK’s start-up scene and take an in-depth look at the key areas that a business owner should be considering when building their enterprise from scratch. Whether you’re reading about Cambridge Satchel Company founder Julie Deane’s remarkable rise to entrepreneurial greatness, seeking a masterclass in effective employee management, or getting the lowdown on e-commerce, Elite Business is the only magazine a business owner will ever need.

With the magazine going from strength-to-strength, we are offering somebody the chance to come on board and help take the magazine to the next level. We are looking for a person who is actively pursuing a career in journalism and already has some experience in this area. You will be expected to write relevant and engaging news content for the Elite Business website on a daily basis, perhaps with the occasional blog piece thrown in for good measure.  In this sense, having a solid interest in, and knowledge of, the British business landscape will certainly work to your advantage.

You will also take on some responsibility for the magazine’s social media accounts, regularly populating them with content from the magazine and provoking conversation with followers and potential followers wherever possible. Our aim is to organically grow our follower base at a steady rate over the coming months, so we need somebody who is confident in their ability to do this.

In addition, Elite Business is hosting its third Elite Business National Conference & Exhibition in October. Being held at Old Truman Brewery, Shoreditch – in the heart of London’s fast-growing start-up community – the event will boast keynote speeches from some of the Uk’s best known entrepreneurs. Previous speakers include Karren Brady, Michael Portillo and Michelle Mone. October’s event is expected to attract in the region of 5,000 business owners over the space of two days. With companies already signing up to exhibit – and new speakers soon to be announced –  we require somebody to make sure that each and every personal/company profile is as readable as possible. Strong copywriting skills and an avid attention-to-detail are therefore an absolute must.

Last but not least, you will be expected to help keep everything else on the Elite Business website up-to-date, including our events and partner listings. This will involve liaising with other members of the team and external clients about what needs to be listed, and chasing up any content / imagery where necessary. Experience of using a content management system (CMS) will therefore be desirable, but not essential, along with a decent set of communication skills.
