Stuff.tv, the fast-growing online arm of the world’s greatest gadget and tech magazine, is looking for a News Editor.
News is a big deal on Planet Stuff. Our readers have an insatiable appetite for the latest tech developments, devouring everything from iPhone rumours to Kickstarter round-ups, and from camera launches to car unveilings.
We want to develop our news coverage by regularly breaking big stories and leading the tech agenda. And we need someone good to help us do it.
If you think you might be that person, read on.
The ideal candidate for this role might be an ambitious and proactive tech journalist with previous experience behind them looking for the next step up or a change of scenery. Or they might be an experienced news hound in another field who wants to give tech a go.
Either way, they’ll need to have a passion for gadgets and what’s new in tech, plus a familiarity with Stuff’s other key concerns: apps, games, cars, entertainment and little bleepy things that take hours to make.
The role will involve:
Attending launch events or commissioning others to do so
Managing a team of freelance contributors
Editing copy from freelancers and Stuff staffers
Setting the daily news agenda and leading the morning news meeting
Attending shows and conferences when required
Writing for the magazine and contributing features and reviews across both platforms as required
You’d be based out of our Teddington headquarters (although note that we’re moving to plush new offices in Twickenham soon) but would have the opportunity to work from our central London office or from home as necessary. Salary will be dependent on experience, but competitive.
