The Role

The Reporter is responsible for daily reporting of global news for Cosmetics Business publications at HPCi Media, both in print and on the cosmeticsbusiness.com website.

The Impact

The Reporter will play a vital role in keeping subscribers apprised of events in the cosmetics, beauty and personal care fields, writing articles with unique insights and analyses.

Job Responsibilities

Knowledge and Content

* Stay up-to-date with developments in the cosmetics, beauty and personal care fields

* Have an excellent grasp of individual publication readers’ needs and tailor content according to audience and publication type

* Liaise with the editorial team to ensure innovative coverage

* Write and edit content for the weekly Cosmetics Business News as well as sister publications, ensuring house style

* Write to meet subscriber needs that have not yet been met and increase subscriptions

* Vet and edit press releases

Online

* Publish articles on the website as soon as they are written, to digital house style and standards, maintaining quality of web publications

* Optimise web articles for SEO

* Tweet publication of news and articles

* Liaise with bloggers and vloggers regularly

* Ensure industry contacts are consistently added to existing database

Other

* Represent the company at events as agreed

* Carry out other team duties as needed

Requirements

* Degree in journalism, writing, or other relevant field, preferably with journalism accreditation, such as NCTJ

* At least two years of experience as a journalist; experience in the cosmetics and business fields a plus

* Enthusiasm and a desire to be the reporter that first breaks the news

* Solid news judgment and strong reporting skills

* Comfortable with a range of writing styles, including news, commentary and analytical feature writing

* Content management skills; experience with digital platforms and social media use

* A commitment to excellence, flexibility and a can-do approach to projects

* Ability to meet tight deadlines
