M&C Allegra, the leading newsletter and insight company for the UK’s pub and restaurant sectors, is looking for an exclusive-hungry online Reporter to drive our industry coverage and website traffic to new heights.
The successful candidate will be a confident, creative and energetic reporter who is equally at home breaking news exclusives in text articles, videos or social media. With a new website on the way, candidates will need to be comfortable with live blogs, interviews and webinars.
The role can be based in either London or Crawley.
The Reporter’s role is to create and exploit new content for M&C Allegra’s daily newsletter, breaking news alerts and website. He or she will also coordinate the publication’s multimedia and social media activities.
The Reporter will be tasked with achieving an agreed volume of content within a specific newsbeat. This will include covering the independent multiple sectors represented by the MA250 and R200 networking groups. He or she will also be expected to help with sourcing speakers for conferences.
The candidate must be prepared to work outside normal office hours, including some 7am starts.
Reporting directly to Editor, the Reporter will be responsible for co-ordinating content delivery for the following products and services:
M&C Allegra website
M&C Allegra e-newsletters
M&C Allegra social media
The Reporter will react quickly and creatively to industry events to produce engaging, up-to-the minute content in the most appropriate format. The Reporter will also plan and deliver or co-ordinate exclusive, set-piece multimedia features and other high-value content.
The Reporter will monitor and report web and e-mail metrics to ensure the team focuses its online efforts in the areas where they will generate the highest levels of relevant traffic.
Specific duties will include:
Producing exclusive (multimedia) content for M&C Allegra
Ensuring all content is correctly classified and SEO’d to optimise the user search experience
Monitoring and reporting web metrics to enable prioritisation of resources and content
Involvement in the co-ordination and production of e-mail newsletters
Co-ordinating social media activity (Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn)
Managing the online promotion of group events, and planning post-event coverage
The Reporter should:
Have excellent communication skills, both written and oral
Be able to undertake user research using a variety of sources
Be creative, able to select the appropriate medium for each content opportunity
Be able to multitask and prioritise work schedules
Remain close to the industry, developing and influencing high-level contacts
