Fenice Media, a media group based in the Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham, are looking for a Travel Journalist to join the editorial team on its flagship Luxury Travel Guide publication.
The role is as varied as it is engaging. One minute you could be writing about travelling across Mongolia on horseback and the next about taking a Tapas Tour of Spain. You may be asked to conduct celebrity interviews with previous examples including Sir Ranulph Fiennes, Alex Polizzi, Levi Roots, Colin Montgomerie and Chris Jericho. The successful candidates will also be encouraged to take an active role in determining editorial content. The icing on the cake is there will be plenty of exciting opportunities to see the world on a range of paid press trips.
Day-to-day responsibilities:
Writing clear, concise and engaging copy for the digital and print publications.
Ensuring copy is consistent in style and tone of voice and relevant to the target audience.
Proofreading copy for clarity, accuracy of detail and consistency of style.
Liaising with clients to discuss editorial content.
Assisting with our other products: iGap Travel Guide, Corporate LiveWire and Medical LiveWire.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 12 months experience in journalism or magazine writing along with a degree-level education in Journalism/English or a related study. The candidate should possess strong writing and subbing skills, great ideas, and, of course, a love of travel. A relentless ability to hit deadlines, a pernickety attention to detail, and a bordering obsessive level of organisation is likewise important.
