Professional Competence and Qualifications essential to the Job
• BSc in Physiotherapy
• Minimum of 3 years post graduate clinical experience
• Chartered Physiotherapist
• First Aid, Injury Prevention and Rehabilitation experience.
• In date sports first aid certificate. Minimum F.A I.F.A.S
• 3 years’ experience working in an Academy or similar elite environment
• Valid DBS Certificate
• Valid Safeguarding Certificate
• Experience of working with elite athletes
• To be involved in all medical/health related matters appertaining to all Academy players.
• To be responsible for the assessment and treatment of the 8-21 years of age Academy players. This would include the development, organisation and implementation of the treatment and rehabilitation programmes for the 8 -21 years of age academy players.
• To be responsible for the maintenance and security of the medical records for the 8 -21 years of age academy players.
• To be responsible for the completion and security of all medical insurance documentation appertaining to the 8 -21 years of age academy players.
• To be responsible for the provision of Physiotherapy cover on training & match days. This would include the “pre-match” medical preparation, the provision of “on-field” first aid and treatment and the “post-match” medical recovery.
• To co-ordinate the medical screening (cardiological and orthopaedic) for those academy players as designated under The F.A. sponsored scheme.
• Develop and maintain individual Injury Prevention programmes based on comprehensive Screening of all Academy players.
• Assist the S & C Staff in the implementation of the Strength & Conditioning syllabus and LTAD plan of all academy players.
• To be responsible for liaison and rapport with the consultant specialist/s concerned in the cardio logical and orthopedic screening programme.
• To organise and deliver medical/health education programmes of training for all academy players.
• To be involved in the organisation and conduction of “in-service” medical training for academy coaching and/or medical staff.
• To co-ordinate and deliver (where appropriate) health/medical education briefings for all academy player’s parents/guardians.
• To complete appraisals of other staff in their charge as directed by the Academy Manager
• In conjunction with the Academy Doctor to liaise with players and parents with regards to all treatment clinics, education briefings and all other medical related issues.
• To co-ordinate and implement an effective “Audit of Injuries” research programme for the academy players as designated by EPPP requirements.
• To co-ordinate and implement the “Orthopedic Muscular-Skeletal Evaluation” for the academy players as designated by EPPP requirements.
• To promptly liaise with the Academy Manager, Doctor, Physiotherapist, Coaches and Parents/Guardians of all academy players concerning all medical/health related matters.
• To promptly liaise with The Club Manager, Reserve Team Manager, Doctor, Coach, Physiotherapists concerning all medical/health related matters of all academy players who have progressed to the reserve or first team squads.
• To be involved in the counseling process of all academy players concerning all medical/health related matters.
• To attend all briefings, courses and seminars as required by The Academy, The Club and The Football Association Medical Education Centre as designated in EPPP requirements.
• To organise appropriate medical cover at all home matches e.g. paramedic, part time staff.
• Report all injuries immediately to the Academy Manager and relevant coaches
• Work efficiently and effectively with additional staff, such as goalkeeping coaches, outfield coaches, assistant coaches, recruitment staff, strength & conditioning coaches, other medical staff, video analysts, transport manager, education & welfare staff and academy administrator.
• Assist the Academy Manager, Head of Recruitment & Assistant Academy Manager in making decisions regarding the signing of, or not, of trialists, and the retention of players currently at the club

• Good knowledge of databases and spread sheet systems
• Working knowledge of E.P.P.P and Premier League athlete management app
• Membership of Football Medical Association
