An exciting opportunity has arisen for a clinical exercise specialist to join our expanding team of health care professionals.

Are you the person we are looking for?
We are looking for part-time or bank exercise specialists who want to make a difference to people affected by cancer. You will be providing an invaluable role as a part-time/bank member of staff, who will work on an “as and when required” basis, to supplement staffing levels during busy periods and provide cover for existing staff in times of annual leave or absence. Opportunities to progress to a permanent role may be considered for the right candidate.

Purpose of the post:
You will be responsible for assisting with the delivery of the exercise component of our intervention to clients throughout their healthcare journey, both in a clinic or a remote setting. You will work as part of a dynamic team of experts including a clinical nurse specialist, a dietitian and a physiotherapist to provide a comprehensive health optimisation programme to clients.

Key responsibilities
Contribute to the assessment, evaluation and management of individuals with exercise-related needs using exercise interventions and behavioural change techniques to promote a healthier lifestyle under the clinical supervision of the physiotherapist
Work within scope of practice, escalating any concerns to appropriate members of the team.
Have an understanding of the importance of motivational interviewing techniques in achieving sustained lifestyle change
To work in collaboration with the rest of the team to deliver a high-quality, efficient and effective service

Qualifications
Essential
REPS level 4 / A recognised register of exercise
Member of BASES/CEP

Desirable
A 2:1 or higher in a degree in sports / exercise science
Courses in CPR /first aid /exercise techniques /group fitness
CanRehab or similar qualification

Experience and skills
Experience of planning, implementing and evaluating physical activity interventions
Experience of working with people with chronic disease or strong interest in working with people with cancer
A proactive team member with a “can-do” attitude
Experience of handling complex relationships
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
Ability to organise, prioritise and coordinate work
Good level of IT literacy
