All About You
Responsibilities:
Provide leadership and direction to a large production laboratory to ensure that delivery targets and quality objectives are continuously met on-time.
Directly manage a team of laboratory supervisors across three shifts (24*7 operations)
Work in partnership with the Medical Director, Operational manager(s) and Clinical Laboratory Scientists to:
Oversee daily operations of high throughput genotyping laboratory
Selects, develops, and evaluates staffing and personnel needs.
Developing and maintaining a “team” environment to ensure the development and retention of personnel.
Maintains a productive interface with other functional departments.
Ensure adequate facilities, equipment and testing personnel are available to complete all laboratory processes
Monitor lab quality and record and drive response to deviations and nonconformances
As necessary, backfill for Operational managers in daily operations
Develop budgets and yearly goals for the department. Controls capital expenditures and direct/indirect labor.
Act as the area subject matter expert for internal and external audits.
Responsible for area Key Performance Indicators and metric improvement strategies.
Requirements:
Knowledge of CLIA and CAP laboratory regulations
3-5 years in a supervisory/management role in a high throughput laboratory/manufacturing environment
Previous experience operating in a clinical laboratory environment
Experience with Liquid handling automation and/or LIMS preferred
Effective communication and interpersonal skills are required
Strong skills in leading and managing change preferred
Background in Genotyping strongly preferred
Previous experience with Illumina systems a plus.
Data analysis skills required
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Engineering or related fields
CLS generalist or CGMBS license preferred
