Alzheimer’s Society is the UK’s leading support and research charity for people with dementia, their families and carers. There will be 850,000 people with dementia in the UK by 2015 with numbers set to rise to over 1 million by 2025.
We are looking for an experienced volunteer manager and trainer to help us run our Dementia Friends initiative, creating individuals with the confidence to help people with dementia feel understood and included in their community. Dementia Friends is part of the Society’s wider work to create dementia friendly communities.
You will play a vital role in the initiative, building our network of volunteer Dementia Friends Champions and liaising with dementia services in your region. You will have experience of delivering training, and supporting and managing volunteers positively to encourage active engagement. You will also be used to monitoring your delivery against targets and establishing or recommending alternative approaches as needed.
You will need excellent communication skills and the ability to build good relationships with key stakeholders within your region and across the Society. You will be joining a project team of 20 people, delivering this important, high-profile initiative.
The location of this role can be negotiated within London or South West England. The role will involve frequent travel across London and the South, including some overnight stays.
