Job Description
The GB Cycling Programme has arguably been the most successful Olympic programme of any sport in Great Britain since 2004. It has produced countless Gold medallists and has established a robust pathway through which future Olympic Champions hone their skills whilst following their dreams.
GB Cycling is led by a World Class team of Coaches and Performance Support Staff. There are approximately 40 athletes on the Podium Programme with sights set firmly on performance in Rio and 90 athletes across the Academy and Paralympic programmes.
The Role
The Performance Support Team is 18 strong, led by the Head of Performance Support, and comprises a team of Physiologists, Biomechanists, Performance Analysts, Nutritionists and a full medical team.
An exciting opportunity exists for a Sport Psychologist to join this team to contribute to the development of the psychology programme across the British Cycling Pathway. The priorities within this role are to:
• Deliver performance-focused psychology services to Paralympic programme to maximise the opportunity for success in the Rio 2016 Paralympics and beyond.
• Deliver performance-focused psychological services to Academy athletes.
• Collaborate with the Lead Psychologist in the design and development of a system of psychology support throughout the British Cycling pathway.
Interested?
The successful applicant will have BPS chartered status and be HCPC registered, have experience in working within elite programmes and a track record of success in these domains. In addition, you will have excellent personal qualities, including the ability to create instant rapport, a strong work ethic, athlete-focused and a team player. Obviously, you will also be recognised as an exceptional Sport Psychologist.
