Job Title: Wasps Rugby First team Physiotherapist
Background:
An exciting opportunity has arisen at Wasps to join our experienced sports medical team. We are looking to recruit a senior physiotherapist with a proven track record in elite sport and experience of working preferably in a professional rugby environment.
This opportunity has come at a very exciting point in the club’s history having recently moved to the 32, 609 capacity Ricoh Arena in Coventry. This advancement will be followed by a relocation to a new purpose built training facility in the Coventry area for season 2016/17.
The right candidate will be able to immediately add value to our forward thinking and dynamic sports medical team, have a strong commitment to professional development and be confident managing their own case load of senior professional rugby players.
Job Description
Role Summary
The physiotherapist will be responsible for co-ordinating and implementing the medical plan agreed with the Head physiotherapist for the senior players. This will cover medical, rehabilitation, injury prevention and specialised duties as required. The role will also require some input into the academy.
Key Responsibilities
Provide accurate diagnosis and oversee treatment and rehabilitation of the senior players. Formulate, co-ordinate and supervise detailed recorded prehabilitation and rehabilitation programmes for players in consultation with the Head physiotherapist. Liaise with the Head physiotherapist regarding the progress of all injured players to ensure accurate injury information can be disseminated to the coaching staff. Provide match day Physiotherapy cover to the senior squad.
Duties include
Keeping documentation on all aspects of injury management in accordance to the standards set by the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) and Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC).
Assist in keeping accurate detailed records of all injuries (training and playing) including type of injuries, frequency of injuries and games missed.
Liaise closely with the Head physiotherapist regarding assessment findings and treatment progression for the players, injury status and progress on a daily basis.
Assist with treatments and prehab/rehab for senior squad and academy as required.
Assist with musculoskeletal screening of all players as required.
Assist with the scheduling of injured players as required.
Provide match day physiotherapy and pitchside trauma cover for the Senior Team matches and training days and assist with ‘A’ league games as required.
To co-ordinate rehabilitation requirements, programmes and progression in conjunction with the Head Physiotherapist and strength and conditioning coaches.
Maintaining a good working relationship with all key personnel, colleagues and players as well as outside the organisation, in order to support and promote Wasps.
Assist the Head Physiotherapist with injury audit, medical insurance and other matters as required.
To keep abreast of current best practices, maintain CPD and take an active role in the departments CPD programme.
To carry out any other duties that may be required by management and are within the post-holders capabilities.

Must have:
BSc Physiotherapy or equivalent for a minimum of three years
CSP registration
HCPC registration
Immediate are in Sport Level 3
Evidence of working as a physiotherapist in elite sport for a minimum of three years
Highly desirable:
Have worked as a physiotherapist in a Premiership or Championship rugby team for a minimum of three years
Msc in Sports Physiotherapy or equivalent
Responsible To:
Head Physiotherapist
