Job Description
In preparation for the 15/16 season there is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Academy Physiotherapist to join the performance department at Bristol Rugby. The successful applicant will:
• Ensure that the operational aspects of Senior Academy Physiotherapy position is developed
• Communicate with the Head of Medical Services regarding player’s injury status and produce regular injury updates for the academy manager.
• Assist in the development of strategies to improve the process of dealing with elite rugby players within the team
• Assess, monitor and evaluate progress of all BRISTOL RUGBY Senior Academy Players
• Liaise with the Director of Rugby, Coaching Staff and Head of Performance at BRISTOL RUGBY and the Academy S + C as required
• Create innovative strategies for monitoring player’s fitness and develop strategies for improving player performance.
• Develop and maintain links between the academy and support clubs regarding BRISTOL RUGBY players.
• Liaise and attend meetings with other MDT members to perform duties and aid the service’s organisational development
• Assist in planning and carry out a medical screening program to ensure optimal player development within the environment.
• Investigate, plan and implement strategically effective and relevant exercise rehabilitation methods, which meet optimally the needs of the players including development of the long term injury plan
• Fulfil your professional development requirements on a regular basis within the confines of the annual rugby schedule
• Fulfil all requirements of rugby squad notation.
• Oversee the EPDG medical department and manage the EPDG medical staff accordingly.
• Ensure that the senior academy players are screened and issued with relevant prehabilitation programmes
• Organize regular health and wellness presentations for the Senior academy players.
• Assist the first team physiotherapists when needed and act up to fulfil first team role
• Organize medical cover for all u20 and A-league fixtures.
• Be available to cover any first team secondary competition games
Essential Criteria
To be considered for this opportunity you should have:
• Experience working with elite athletes (at least 1 year)
• Proven, extensive clinical experience in elite level sport.
• Strong clinical skills with the ability to successfully treat sport injuries.
• The ability to work collaboratively and effectively to achieve best client care.
• The ability to educate, advise and motivate individuals.
• Knowledge and awareness of available conventional and alternative treatments.
• Experience of working collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team.
• A BSc in Physiotherapy (or equivalent).
• A current membership of the Health Professions Council.
• A current membership of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists.
