Team Doctor (Match Days) – Nottingham Rugby – West Bridgford, Nottingham

Job Description
Nottingham Rugby is an ambitious club currently competing within the Greene King IPA Championship. The team train full time although the current vacancy requirement is for attendance on match days only.

    Role Purpose:
To provide competent and appropriate match day medical care to Nottingham Rugby players as one of the team doctors. This role is supported by the club’s Lead Doctor and Head Physiotherapist, but there may be occasions when the post holder is the sole team doctor present on a match day.

Duties may include immediate on field care of the injured or unwell athlete; decision making on fitness to play; post match assessment / triage of injuries and recommendations for after care; wound management; head injury assessments.

To participate in any mandatory training and professional development programmes as set out by the RFU and/or Nottingham Rugby. For example, in relation to the annual Championship Rugby audit.

To assist in match day preparation as set out in Nottingham Rugby policies for medicines management and in compliance with the RFU audit process. Examples include: emergency medical equipment and medical gases check lists signed off, accurate record keeping for medicines dispensed and treatments or advice offered.

The successful applicant will:
Be employed in a role that supports their work at Nottingham Rugby, both in terms of time commitments and professional development.

Have appropriate professional indemnity cover and GMC registration.

Have completed RFU or WRU Immediate Care in Sport course or be working towards this.

Prior experience of working in rugby or professional team sports is desirable but not essential.

Completion of a post graduate diploma or MSc in sports medicine would be advantageous alongside evidence of professional development undertaken in the field of musculoskeletal / sports medicine.
