Independent Member of the Audit Committee – Victim Support – London

Victim Support is the leading charity for victims of crime in England & Wales with a turnover of around £54m. We now face a unique and exciting period in our history with a significant change to our funding base and organisational structure.

Our existing independent member of the Audit Committee has now stepped up to the full Trustee role, and so we are looking for a new independent member to replace her. The role is extremely interesting and challenging and will make a valuable contribution to the sound management of the charity. The Committee has three other members who are all Trustees: the independent member therefore plays an important role in bringing objective oversight to the governance of the charity.

The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant with recent and relevant professional experience gained from industry, central or local government or private practice. Previous experience of charity management is not essential but the successful candidate must have an appreciation of the role of an Audit Committee in supporting an organisation and its Board. The willingness and confidence to ask questions and an independent mind-set are the most important characteristics.

Our Audit Committee meets four times a year in our Hallam Street offices in London. Meetings rarely last longer than three hours and are held during normal working hours.

For further information please contact the Board Secretary, Caroline Rose, by telephone on 0207 268 0249 or by email at caroline.rose@victimsupport.org.uk.

The deadline for receipt of applications is 2pm on Friday 22 May 2015. Interviews will be held on Thursday 18 June 2015.
