Job Description
Larbert High School in partnership with Grangemouth Stags Rugby Club seek to appoint a committed Director of Rugby who will be responsible for developing, supporting and delivering a thriving positive rugby culture in both the school and club. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that Larbert/Grangemouth reach their goal of competing in the Mitsubishi Schools and Youth Tier 3 Conferences within the next 3 years.
Hours of work – 37 hours per week
1 year fixed term contract with opportunity to extend.
Work Pattern – Week Days, Evenings & Weekends
Reports to – Management Group of Grangemouth Stags, Larbert High School & Scottish Rugby representatives
Main responsibilities:
• Lead/Manage School of Rugby sessions (S1 to S6) including Youth Achievement Award accreditation and all associated materials
• Lead/Manage Larbert High School’s extra-curricular rugby programme
• Manage School of Rugby Budget
• Manage School of Rugby sessional coaches
• Design new School of Rugby courses as required within and outwith SQA model
• Teach assigned Health & Wellbeing curricular classes from S1 to S6
• Organisation of weekend fixtures for Larbert/Grangemouth teams outwith
• Transition as many players as possible from Larbert High School to Grangemouth Stags RFC post conferences.
• Deliver sessions at Grangemouth Rugby Club to provide transition link from school to club
• Maintain P6 and P7 teams in each of the 7 associated Larbert cluster primary schools
• Lead/Manage weekly fixtures as part of the Mitsubishi Central Schools Conference
• Lead/develop TSCS Rugby Mini programme
• Lead/develop TCSC Summer and Easter camp programme
• Lead/manage Larbert High School’s Rugby social media platforms
• Plan and implement player development programmes through the school and club to increase player enjoyment, whilst improving playing standards.
Knowledge and skills requirements:
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to effectively liaise with players, coaches and administrators and other stakeholders.
• Strong organisational skills.
• Experience of delivering educational coursework to secondary school pupils.
• Experience of managing paid and/or volunteer coaches.
• Sound knowledge of the selection procedures and rules / regulations of Scottish Rugby’s competition structures.
• UKCC Level 2.
• UKCC Coach Educator.
• Satisfactory PVG check essential.
• PC Literate including Excel, Word, and email.
