Residential Dance and Activity Leader – ACCORD International Summer School

Job Description
Do you like working with children and young adults? If you do, read on. This work is all about looking after young people and working professionally to give them a memorable and enjoyable experience when they stay at our centres.

We have 4 centres situated in the South East of England, 2 are based in Eastbourne close to the sea, 1 in beautiful Kent countryside not far from Tunbridge Wells and 1 in the north near Manchester, Rossall School with a private beach!

All our students and all of our staff live at the centre in single sex accommodation. All staff are involved in the pastoral care required in a residential setting. For example, staff ensure students are settled in their rooms at night and up in time for breakfast in the morning and deal with any problems that occur. The students’ safety is the most important thing. Therefore we only employ people who accept this and are prepared to put themselves out to ensure it happens. Staff are expected to be courteous, friendly and professional whatever the situation. We also expect our staff to be sensitive towards the children and respond to the interests and needs of the students who come from many different countries and cultures.

The typical working day varies from centre to centre but generally there are EFL lessons in the mornings (5 mornings per week) followed by sports, games and activities in the afternoons and evening entertainment. Every Wednesdays there are full day trips and Sundays we take the students on a local trip to tourist attraction nearer to the school.

Working at ACCORD ISS is challenging and can be tiring, but it is also an unforgettable experience, very rewarding and a lot of fun. Many staff return year on year and have forged friendships with peers and students alike.

We run a variety of activities and sporting sessions and therefore require all rounded people who can lead sports sessions, football sessions, rugby sessions, tennis sessions as well as staff who can lead drama activities, arts and crafts, music lessons and even cooking!!

If you are not afraid of hard work, enjoy working with children, are reliable, energetic and have a good sense of humour, we would be interested to hear from you.

This specific role will be the head of dance on site and will run the Dance Academy which takes place three days per week. When Dance Academy is not running you will be required to deliver or assist with other activities.
