Robert Gordon’s College a leading HMC independent co-educational day school in the heart of Aberdeen, currently have an opportunity for motivated and exceptional Specialist Hockey coaches to join its dedicated team of sports coaches within the PE and Games Department. The successful candidate will be actively involved in developing and encouraging sporting talent by delivering coaching to pupils across the College.

Sport is an integral part of everyday life at Robert Gordon’s College. At Gordon’s pupils have the opportunity to participate and excel in a huge variety of sports and are supported in their sporting endeavours by a growing number of qualified specialist coaches and instructors.

The College is fully committed to sports; Hockey forms part of the core curriculum and is offered as an extra-curricular option. The College consistently performs to a high standard and has gained regular success at local and national level and produced a number of international performers.

Hockey teams benefit from training and playing on the very best of surfaces at our quality pitches, including one floodlit international standard water based Hockey Pitch, full size sand based pitch and a series of smaller grass and sand pitches. The pitches are housed within the Colleges enviable state of the art Sport and Games facilities located at our dedicated Countesswell’s site and encompass part of a purpose built 40 acre playing field complex which includes a 360 seater stand and fully equipped pavilion.

Many of our coaches are former sporting professionals who are able to share their experience and knowledge gained through competition and years of training to inspire and instil the confidence to succeed.

Although the emphasis is primarily focused on delivering quality hockey coaching, a willingness to be involved in the coaching of other activities across the school year and to fully participate in College life is essential.

Both the full and part time roles require a commitment to attendance at weekly weekend sporting fixtures and some evening work.

Candidates should be able to demonstrate extensive experience and knowledge of their sport, be experienced in coaching Hockey to children of school age or hold a UKCC Level 1 coaching qualification (or equivalent).
