Job Description
Purpose: To develop the technique and ability of sprinters at WUAXC
Main duties:
1. Working with the club’s Athletics Captains to create a training plan for short sprints (100m / 200m) and long sprints (400m) for 3 sessions a week in 3 x 10 week segments.
2. Attending at least 1 training session per week, helping with drills, technique and motivating the sprinters.
3. Providing advice regarding competitions, injury prevention etc.
4. Providing advice and support with further coaching opportunities for the club e.g. helping to arrange flying coaches.
Skills required:
• Confident, good at communicating and motivational
• As highly qualified as possible –must be a qualified UKA Athletics Coach
• Experienced and good understanding of sprinting
• Punctual
• Willing to work with both amateurs and experienced sprinters
• Willing to work within the framework and ethos of the club
• DBS checked
How much time will it take?
1 hour (1 session) per week for 30 weeks per year, as well as the time to develop a training plan. This can increase if both the club’s exec committee and the coach feel this is appropriate and are both happy with the arrangement.
